Paper Minecraft

Paper Minecraft – Mine, Craft, Build, and Survive in a 2D World
Paper Minecraft is a 2D sandbox game created by Scratch developer Griffpatch. It takes many familiar ideas from Minecraft and turns them into a side-view world. You can explore, mine blocks, collect materials, craft useful items, build structures, and survive against dangers without moving through a full 3D environment.
The world stretches horizontally and vertically. Trees grow above ground, while useful materials can be found by digging below the surface.
Start With Basic Materials
Like other block-building survival games, getting resources gives you something useful to do right away.
Wood can help you begin crafting. Better tools make mining easier and allow you to search underground for materials such as coal and iron. Collected blocks can also become part of your own buildings.
The number keys select items from your quick slots. Clicking places or mines blocks. W, A, S, and D handle movement and jumping, while E opens the inventory. You can also interact with chests, crafting tables, and doors.
Other controls let you eat food, drop items, sprint, pause, save the world, and use commands.
Choose Survival or Build Freely
Paper Minecraft includes survival-style play where health, food, resources, and enemies matter. Darkness can bring hostile creatures, so building somewhere safe becomes useful before wandering too far.
Players who care more about construction can use Creative Mode. This removes much of the resource pressure and makes it easier to focus on building.
The 2D design changes how construction works. You cannot walk around a house and look at every side. Instead, buildings appear more like detailed cross-sections. You can create rooms, tunnels, towers, farms, storage areas, and underground bases while watching everything from the side.
Exploration also remains important. Digging downward can reveal caves and useful resources, while travelling across the surface brings different terrain and places to build.
Paper Minecraft keeps the familiar mine-and-build idea while making the controls and viewpoint much simpler. You can start a survival world, gather everything by hand, or use the sandbox tools to build whatever you want in a flat 2D landscape.
